With the advent of smart-phone technology and social media we live in an era of transparency and accountability, the likes of never seen before. In today’s world, citizens demand the right to be involved in the decision-making process of matters that affect them. With technology and social media in-hand this has lead to a proliferation of misinformation and fake news, creating outrage, sometimes artificially, in otherwise un-engaged communities. This webinar provides public organisations with the tools to identify, manage and leverage community outrage, reducing the risk in communication exchanges and ensuring that correct information is available.

Learning Objectives

  • Acknowledge that there will be outrage in community engagement processes.
  • Identify strategies for dealing with such outrage. The outrage may be genuine or created by others for their own purposes.
  • Be better equipped to deal with such matters, providing them with the confidence to soldier-on rather than abandon the engagement.
