Leaders Connect

A word from the CEO

Welcome to this month's edition of Leader's Connect. It is at times like these that keeping our members connected is more important than ever. We are here to support you and ask that you tell us how best we can do that via the quick questions below. We will report back on the ideas shared.

Thank you to our partners and members for your continued support and encouragement at this time. I wish everyone good physical and mental health as we rapidly adapt to a new world which for many includes having our purpose challenged, shifting to work from home arrangements, and dealing with grief and loss.

We would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to take part in this quick survey

A word from our events team

Hi All

Wow- what crazy times! I have been so looking forward to seeing so many of you at our major events this year- it’s definitely the highlight of my year and I’ll miss catching up. But, not to worry- this just means we will all have more to chat about when the time comes, and probably a lot more cute dog pics to share. If you have any pics you want to share feel free to send them through and make my day!

I’ve already learnt so much the last couple of weeks- that my apricot tree is actually a peach tree, that you can get indoor plants delivered to your house (and left by the letterbox so you can easily sneak them inside and pretend they’ve always been there), and that smiling gives the brain as much pleasure as 2,000 bars of chocolate and just that simple gesture can make someone's day! (okay- I knew this last one already and happily practice every day).

If you’re looking for something to do- checkout this Git Up tutorial on YouTube- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76IAnVEwT5Q. Lets all learn and blow DJ Jaki J’s mind at our next Awards Dinner- we’ll keep you updated on details on the new event once available.

Stay safe, stay well, stay happy.

Looking forward to seeing you in the hopefully near future.

A word from our learning and development team

We are working hard to adapt with the current evolving situation and will continue to provide opportunities for learning, connection, reflection and collaboration – things may just look a little different!
With the current COVID-19 situation, we have postponed a number of face to face network/training events and programs over the coming months – it’s so important to us that we keep you safe and continue to deliver content in a meaningful way that doesn’t compromise the impact of the program, or your learning experience.
Some learning outcomes can be easily achieved online, others not so much.
Our team are currently working through new dates, new delivery methods where we can (we have already had some participants sitting in on live virtual classrooms over the past week!), and new training topics that will meet changing needs.
We are also very aware that your organisations have been subject to a huge amount of uncertainty, disruption and change through this time. Your needs are changing and our offerings will evolve and adapt, too.
Such a huge catalyst for change will bring so many opportunities that we couldn’t have imagined before. We are navigating uncertainty too, but we’re really excited to embrace this opportunity and we can’t do it without you. As always, I really encourage you to connect with your peers, your networks, and us!
I hope you are all taking care of yourselves and each other and look forward to seeing you soon.

That Discomfort You’re Feeling Is Grief

Some of the HBR edit staff met virtually the other day — a screen full of faces in a scene becoming more common everywhere. We talked about the content we’re commissioning in this harrowing time of a pandemic and how we can help people. But we also talked about how we were feeling. One colleague mentioned that what she felt was grief. Heads nodded in all the panes.... read more
