What is the Rural Management Challenge?

The Local Government Professionals Australia, SA Rural Management Challenge is
a sophisticated developmental program that produces outcomes that have relevant, tangible and enduring benefits for your people, your teams and your council. It is also good fun, great value and a hands-on approach to professional development. Councils enter teams of four staff members from any level. These teams come together to compete with other
rural councils in a day filled with a variety of tasks.
Previous tasks have included role plays, reports, presentations, mock media interviews and team swaps.

The winning team will receive 6 tickets (for 4 team members, their mentor & CEO) to attend the 2018 Leadership Excellence Gala Awards Dinner where they will be officially presented with the winner's trophy.

Who should enter?

Everyone! The many hundreds of local government employees who have already participated have demonstrated that
almost any rural local government officer with the right attitude will take away enduring benefits from the experience.

"It's very rewarding and like nothing I have ever done before!" "From stepping outside of my comfort zone, I have more confidence in what I can achieve and perform under pressure.  I have gained knowledge, through other team members, of how council approaches challenges" - past participants.

Why should you enter?

The Rural Management Challenge provides rural councils with a unique opportunity for staff development.
The emphasis is one of learning - both individually and as a team.  It is an immersive experience designed to develop your skills to become more effective in the way you: THINK, LEAD, COMMUNICATE, NEGOTIATE, ANALYSE, DECIDE & ENGAGE.

It is designed to stretch your comfort zone and expand your skill set.  Teams that perform well come to the day ready to let go of their fears and embrace the unexpected.
Your learning experience begins from the moment you enrol.
