Challenges and Opportunities: Navigating ChatGPT and more in local government
Dr Neryl East
Speaker and Leadership Credibility Expert
The launch of ChatGPT and other generative AI tools herald what’s arguably the biggest shift in the way we communicate since the arrival of the internet.
For local government, this new technology opens a realm of possibilities for saving time and precious resources – fast-tracking everything from report writing and financial calculations to marketing and community interactions.
At the same time, it exposes councils to significant risks around data security, privacy and copyright, as well as ethical issues and potential damage to credibility and reputation.
By now there’s a good chance your staff are dabbling in ChatGPT, yet there’s no regulatory framework as governments at all levels scramble to catch up with such rapid technological changes.
In this session, local government credibility specialist Dr Neryl East will share what every council CEO needs to know about generative AI.
She’ll give you a snapshot of the breadth of tools already available (with more coming online every day) and the issues you need to be aware of right now as a local government leader.
You’ll take away:
- A new awareness of key generative AI tools, well beyond ChatGPT
- A deeper understanding of the benefits and risks of integrating generative AI into your Council’s key operations
- Heightened appreciation of the governance requirements and your next steps
- Specific examples and tips essential to your role as a local government CEO
