Join your peers for an engaging, workshop-style afternoon dedicated to unravelling the root causes, challenges, and innovative solutions surrounding the Network’s Top 5 Hot Topics, as identified by you, at the final Network event for the year - the LG Professionals SA General Managers and Directors Network Forum: Hot Topic Hub.

This Forum will be held in person at The Gallery, 30 Waymouth Street, Adelaide and via Zoom on Thursday 7 November 2024 from 12:45 PM – 3:30 PM.

Top 5 Hot Topics

Facilitated by Deb Dickson, Pique Global

With your valuable feedback provided throughout 2024 and recent survey engagement, you have identified the Top 5 Hot Topics which are keeping you up at night. Deb will facilitate a workshop style session where we will consider the underlying root causes of the issues and share what is currently being done across the sector. We’ll dig deep, beyond the Hot Topic headline, to explore:

  • Big Picture Thinking – how can you honour your role to be ‘planning and thinking big’ in an environment that is reactive and short term focused?
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) – how can local government embrace the potential of AI in a way that adds pragmatic value to their communities?
  • Workforce planning and capability – how might we become a magnet for the diverse talent and capability needed to succeed in tomorrow’s local government operating environment?
  • Elected member and staff relationships – how might General Managers and Directors navigate the critical and potentially complex relationships with our key stakeholders – Elected members and staff?
  • Project delivery: capacity, capability & funding – how do we bridge the tensions of optimised capacity, enhanced capability and secured funding?

About your facilitator:

She is a firm believer that organisations can, and must, honour a responsibility to the growth of their people, those they serve, those they partner and those they impact without sacrificing growth or achievement.
